New Amanful ; chiefs and students fight against open defecation.

The chiefs, people and students have come out with a new strategy to deal with people who defecate at the beaches at new Amanful in the Ahanta west District of the western region. According to the strategy any one found will be prosecuted with afine .

New Amanful is a fishing community in the Ahanta west district,the people in the community speak  Ahanta.

The area has a number of foreign companies occupying part of it land.Over the years students and some people without place of convenience in their homes have been using the beach as their main place of convenience which has affected the  people in the community in terms of diseases. Even one can not spent 10 minutes at a particular place due to the stench that emanates from the area.The pupils in the methodist primary also used the same beach site as their place of convenience.The situation has propelled Fendercare  a marine Ghana limited to construct a KVIP  for the Methodist primary and Junior high school at the community, the reason behind the construction is to ensure conducive environment for teaching and learning as well as ensuring good health of the school children. Mr Andrews Instiful is the Head teacher of the school,he enumerated some of their challenges.

The General manager of Fendercare Mr Noah Agbedor who joined the chiefs and Queen mothers to cut the sod for the commencement of the KVIP spoke about why the company decided to construct the KVIP for the school.He said the company which provide marine offshore services decided to provide the project,as part of their social cooperate responsibility towards good health in the region.One of the community member madam Adjoa comfort was happy about the construction since it will end the situation of open defecation in the area and solve the problem that their children are being faced in the school.
